The music world says goodbye to Manuel de la Calva: “An overwhelming energy”


The world of music and entertainment in Spain is mourning the death of Manuel de la Calva, a member of the celebrated Dúo Dinámico . The SGAE ( Spanish Association of Musicians) will hold a public funeral service tomorrow at its Madrid headquarters from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to pay his respects. Through social media and official statements, artists, institutions, and fans are expressing their admiration and gratitude for the indelible mark he has left on Spanish popular music, recognizing his career as a fundamental part of the emotional memories of several generations.

The text begins: “Manolo de la Calva, my soul mate, more than a brother, companion of a hundred adventures and a thousand songs has left us today. Don’t cry for him, he wouldn’t want to. He was the soul of Dúo, always happy, optimistic, positive. Sing with him in this farewell. Thank you for so much, friend. You are already eternal. Take care wherever you are.”

Singer Raphael also publicly bid farewell to Manuel de la Calva with a message describing him as a fundamental part of the history of Spanish music and remembering his overwhelming energy. He assures us that he will miss him and extends his condolences and a hug to family and friends.

The General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) has expressed its condolences with a message on social media, describing Manuel de la Calva as an "eternal author," also noting that he was a member of its Board of Directors and received the organization's Medal of Honor.
